7 September 2017, German Lieutenant-General Weigt took over from Spanish Lieutenant General Ramirez as Commander of Eurocorps. Both Generals expressed themselves right after the change of command ceremony.
General Ramirez : “I feel satisfied. When I took over, I received a clear mandate, Eurocorps had to move towards the European Union maintaining the link with NATO and that’s what we did.” He also insisted : “Continue improving because if there is a Corps with a future in Europe, this is Eurocorps!”
Freshly arrived at the highest position of Eurocorps, General Weigt explained his vision: “It is crucial to be effective, ready and flexible to fulfill all kind of missions.” Still under the emotion, he added: “It’s a deep honor and I’m deeply impressed to take over the command of such a military formation.”
