On Thursday, 22 May 2025, Eurocorps and the City of Strasbourg marked a landmark moment in their longstanding relationship with the signing of a new Partnership Agreement, coinciding with the 33rd anniversary of Eurocorps’ presence in Strasbourg. The official ceremony, held at Headquarters Eurocorps, brought together Lieutenant General Piotr Błazeusz and Mayor Jeanne Barseghian in a celebration of unity, civic engagement, and a shared commitment to the future of Europe.
The new agreement reinforces the deep-rooted ties between Eurocorps and its host city, emphasizing cooperation in civic integration, public engagement, education, and sustainability. During her speech, Mayor Barseghian highlighted the importance of Eurocorps as both a military and symbolic presence in Strasbourg—Europe’s capital of peace and democracy.
A key moment of the event was the awarding of the “Champion” label for biodiversity to Eurocorps by the Eurometropole of Strasbourg. This recognition reflects Eurocorps’ continued environmental efforts, including the creation of green spaces, protection of local wildlife, and future projects like the installation of insect habitats and the planting of native hedgerows.

Beyond the formalities, the anniversary and agreement symbolize a renewed commitment to European values: peace, human rights, and sustainability. As both institutions look ahead, the partnership is set to strengthen their collaboration and enhance the well-being of the citizens and communities they serve—today and for the generations to come.
