Biography of the Military assistant to Chief of Staff

Michel Useldinger

Born on 26 February 1979, Lieutenant-Colonel USELDINGER completed his initial military training in France. He graduated from the French military academy of Saint-Cyr in 2002 and continued his military training at the Infantry School.

In June 2003, he began his officer’s career as reconnaissance platoon leader and carried out an OMP mission in Kosovo in 2005-2006. After a 2-year assignment as a platoon leader for basic training in 2006, he returned to Afghanistan as Deputy Ground Defense Chief Commander of the Force Protection of Kabul International Airport in 2008.

Appointed Captain at the end of 2008, he was posted as the Deputy Public Affairs Officer in 2009, and as the Deputy Company Commander in 2010. He returned to Afghanistan as Chief J5 Plans Force protection Kabul International Airport in 2010-2011.
After attending the French Command and Staff Course in 2012, he was appointed Major and continued his career in human resources by taking up the post of Commander of the Resettlement Service the same year. Appointed lieutenant-colonel in 2015, he served as the Director of Resettlement and then as the Officer for Career Personnel in 2018.

After graduating from the French General Staff Officer Course (École de guerre) in the summer of 2022, he has been posted to the positions of Military Assistant to the Chief of Staff and SNR of Luxembourg at HQ Eurocorps.

Lieutenant-colonel USELDINGER is married and the father of two.
