Upon graduating from Saint-Cyr Military Academy, Brigadier Vincent Tassel chose the infantry. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment (3e RPIMa) in Carcassonne, where he served successively as a platoon leader and company commander. He was deployed to several countries in Africa and in the Pacific.
After being transferred to the Paris region, he attended the French Higher Command and Staff Course. He was then assigned to the 8th Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment (8e RPIMa) in Castres as Head of the Operations and Training Office, where he was involved in missions in both Asia and Europe.
Subsequently, he joined the European External Action Service in Brussels, working within the Crisis Management and Planning Directorate. He was responsible for EU policy and actions in the fight against maritime piracy, and later for monitoring European missions and operations in the Sahel. He played a key role in developing the strategic concept for EUTM Mali.
In 2013, he assumed command of the 8e RPIMa and was again deployed several times to Africa.
In 2015, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the French Airborne Brigade for two years. He was then selected to serve as French Liaison Officer to the British Chief of the General Staff (CGS) in London. In 2018, he attended the British Higher Command and Staff Course as an auditor.
From 2020 to 2022, he served as Chief of Staff of the Army Special Operation Forces Command.
On 2022, he took over as Deputy Commander of the Ground Intelligence Command. He was later appointed to lead the Intelligence and Cyber-Electronic Brigade in January 2024.
Since August 1. 2025 he was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCOS OPS) and French Senior National Representative (SNR) at Eurocorps.
Brigadier Vincent Tassel is an Officer of the Légion d’Honneur and the Ordre National du Mérite, and a recipient of the Croix de la Valeur Militaire with five stars (Army Corps, Brigade [3] and Regiment).
He is married to Sophie and is the father of six children.
He is also a tough rugby player, but unfortunately has two left hands.
